The University of Padova was founded in 1222 and currently has 12.000 students in Engineering Faculty. The Engineering and Management Department (DTG), established in Vicenza in 1998, has the specific mission of linking technological and management issues. The department currently has 45 professors and researchers, 20 PhD students and 20 technicians. One of the strongest research areas refers to light alloys and foundry processes, which in the last 10 years has been relevantly involved in EU research projects in the field of light alloys castings (NADIA, IDEAL, FENET).

The DTG role in the project is related to:

Defects analysis in cast specimens. Multi-scale modelling of microstructural evolution in diecasting. Quantitative microstructural investigations. Correlation between microstructure, defects and process data. Use of Nanofluids for innovative thermal conditioning of dies. Costs of quality management.
